Embroidery

Embroidered designs are applied to various items by multi-needled machines that are run by programs that we call digitization.  Your image, in any format, is digitized by this program to be utilized on the Embroidery machines.

The quality of the finished product is determined by two factors.  First is the digitizing of the design itself and second is the speed of the needle and the machine settings while applying the logo.

Even if every effort is made to make sure the machine is set up and running at a slow enough speed, poor digitizing cannot be overcome.  Conversely the worlds best digitizing can be ruined by an ill set up fast running machine.

The industry puts pressure to keep costs down by digitizing to run the machines fast, we do exactly the opposite!

The type of threads used depends on the item and fabric. Casuals uses only the highest quality threads.

Currently Casuals embroiders up to 12 separate thread colors at the same time on a single logo.

Embroidery Setup

Digitization is an old art, originally called punching, the machines were run by a paper tape with holes punched in it similar to an antique player piano.

Currently there are two ways to digitize.  Casuals of course uses only the best. There has been a recent proliferation of “off the shelf” PC based programs that simply scan the logo and pop out a program.  This has led to what industry experts call “a recent overall decline in the quality of embroidery”.

Casuals Utilizes a slightly older method that leaves the human in the loop. We start by hand drawing a deign at 600% size!  During this process steps are taken to anticipate problems with a logo. It is at this point that compensations are made within the program.

Quality digitizing is dependent on the digitizing artist focusing in on the three dimensional details that embroidery allows.  This is why we have some of the highest quality, we take our time to make it that way!
